The Army National Military Cemeteries is currently seeking substantive comments related to the assessment of effects in the Section 106 process and suggested mitigation measures to resolve those effects. Adverse effects occur when a project directly or indirectly impacts a historic property, diminishing its integrity. Under the National Historic Preservation Act, the Army must find ways to avoid, minimize, or mitigate those adverse effects. Mitigation measures are ways to avoid or reduce those potentially harmful adverse effects to a historic
property.
“To help you formulate substantive comments related to the assessment of effects and mitigation measures, please visit the ANMC Confederate Memorial Removal website for more information about the project and the Section 106 process.
